In 2020 we received notification that Matlock Bath could apply for up to £10,000 for funding to re-opening up of the High Street to entice visitors to come back to the area following Covid. Funding came from Government and was distributed through Derbyshire Dales District Council. After many discussions and in order to adhere to the strict restrictions for the funding, Councillors drew up a plan of measures to remind visitors when visiting the village that the virus has not gone away. Posters, lamppost wraps together with stencil drawings on the pavement were constant reminders that the public should remain vigilant and to wash their hands, cover their faces and socially distance whilst in our village in order to keep everyone, including our residents, safe.
The cost of this was fully funded by the Government via DDDC with no cost to the Parish Council.
