Project Information

The Parish Council is embarking on this project with Derby University to investigate the possible future for our village. The Hotel, Resort and Spa Management department of the College of Business at the University has agreed to take on the project with a team of its students. The University will, through this project, produce a report outlining a series of options which will take the village forward into the next decade. It is hoped that a report will be published in the autumn.

The Parish Council has a commitment to work collaboratively across both the private and public sectors in order to obtain a clear understanding of the challenges and opportunities for Matlock Bath in the future. Matlock Bath is without doubt, one of the most attractive, inland tourism destinations in the country. However, it is clear that in order to meet the future needs of residents, visitors and people who work within the village, it needs to adapt to changing circumstances.

There are three key stakeholder groups in this project; the residents, those who work in the village and the visitors. It is crucial that they have ownership of the project. All will be involved at every stage. As the partner organisation with the University, the Parish Council has set up a steering group that will monitor the project and advise as it progresses. This group is chaired by Andrew Pugh, resident and Managing Director of the Heights of Abraham and consists of Parish Councillors working with representatives of the District and County Councils, the hospitality sector, the attraction sector and the shop/food outlet sector from the village.

We now call on all stakeholders to demonstrate their support, involvement and commitment to this project by completing the support form and add other useful information where appropriate. This can then be used by the project to assist in its study. Please be assured that any data will only be used to assist the running of the project and not be shared with other parties.
